LGBTQ advocates are emphasizing the importance of restorative justice in hate crimes.

In the state of Oklahoma in the United States, LGBTQ advocates are emphasizing the importance of restorative justice in hate crimes. As one victim expresses, ¨I would rather see my attackers get saddled with 200 hours of community service at an AIDS hospice or an LGBT community center. I would rather see them be forced to work alongside the queer or trans community and see the humanity in us than have them sit in a jail cell.¨
